As the end of 2019 speeds towards us, the team at HABA would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your ongoing support of the Hair and Beauty Association that supports you.

We know that there are plenty of hair and beauty associations in Australia, but we are proud that you are a part of ours.

 

2019 has been a huge year for the association, as we know it has been for many of our members. Not only has it been huge in the sense of long, hot and dry, but also in terms of the things we as an organisation have achieved on the part of salon owners in the year.

 

Within the Fair Work Commission, HABA and Ai Group have fought (and continue to fight) a number of key changes to the Hair and Beauty Industry Award 2010 including winning the District Allowances Case. We are continuing to work on the redrafting of the Award into plain English and ensure that salon owners are properly represented in this process. We continue to fight for a review of penalty rates and changes to workplace relations. All of this is to ensure that salon owners are best equipped legally to deal with the demands of the modern workplace.

 

We ran a major competition in 2019, giving 3 lucky salons the opportunity to work with Blair James, founder of Bondi Sands, as a business mentor. This has offered immense value to those salons who took part, and we look forward to seeing the fruit that will undoubtedly come from the Business Growth Workshop we facilitated with Blair James.

 

HABA have worked hard on keeping salon owners informed of the big and small changes occurring in our industry all the time, as well as offering them support not just in legal battles but in the business of being in business.

We wish you, your families, your team and your business a very happy holiday season, hopefully full of relaxation and rest ahead of what is sure to be a mammoth year in 2020. We are so excited to continue to represent and support salon owners into this new year, and look forward to sharing with you the organisations huge plans for 2020.
