Father’s Day marketing tips to increase male clientele

Would you like to see more males walking through your salon door in 2018? If so, it’s a smart business move considering the worldwide men’s grooming market is predicted to hit 56 billion dollars by 2020. Yes, men want to look good and feel great too — and there’s no better time than Father’s Day to remind them that your business is here to help. Here’s some marketing ideas to get the ball rolling.

Plan ahead

Don’t wait until a few days before Father’s Day to advertise your Father’s Day promotions. Instead drum up interest over the course of a month to push your campaign to its full potential. Advertise your Father’s Day promotions and gift packages across your Facebook and social media pages, and dedicate a page on your website to all the ways your salon will be celebrating dads this year. Send a dedicated email to your database informing them of your Father’s Day packages and gift ideas and encourage them to take action now instead of waiting until the last minute to sort their Father’s Day gifts.

Know your target market
Dads don’t buy their own Father’s Day gifts — so for this occasion, it’s actually the spouses, partners and children you want to be targeting for your marketing campaign. A great way to catch their attention is to run a Facebook or Instagram competition in the month leading up to Father’s Day. Why not host a  ‘Just Like Dad’ competition where partners and children can submit a photo of dad and daughter, or father and son, where the aim is to find the most strikingly similar father and child pair. Let your followers be the judge by voting on their favourite photo with likes and comments. The winner receives a Father’s Day gift voucher or an ‘Ultimate Grooming Package’ for dad.

‘Month of Man’ hair removal special
Men struggle with unwanted hair as much as women — so much so that laser and IPL machine hair removal is statistically the most in-demand non-invasive aesthetic procedure amongst males. So why not run a ‘Month of Man’ promotion where throughout the whole of September, male clients receive a special deal on laser or IPL removal, such as 40% off hair removal bookings, or a ‘6 IPL hair removal sessions for the price of 4’ treatment package.

Last minute gifts
Be ready and prepared to cater to the customers who have left Father’s Day shopping to the last minute. This means putting together male grooming kits and displaying them in your retail area and at your sales counter. And of course, gift cards always make the perfect last minute gift — so why not run a quick and easy promotion such as this across your website, social media pages and shop front:

“Desperately need a Father’s Day gift for the dad who has everything? Let him choose his own pampering experience with a [insert business name] gift card!”
