This year, more than ever, we know salon owners are struggling.

Salons across most of Australia are closed. We have all seen what shut doors have done to us all.

With staff wages, rent and other business costs to cover, and the possibility of closures throughout Australia continuing, a feeling of abandonment and despair is settling in for many salon owners.

Now is the time for us to come together as an industry, support each other and open up about our mental health and the toll these lockdowns are taking on us as salon + business owners.

Mental health is an important issue, now more than ever, and Hair and Beauty Australia wants to do our part to help.

HABA are proud to be supporting Mullets for Mental Health, an initiative run by The Black Dog Institute. We encourage you to support the initiative in any way you can and use this as an opportunity to do something positive in your community through this lockdown.

 

Here’s what you can do:

1. Auction off your first appointment back after lockdown + donate the proceeds to charity
   HABA National President Maureen Harding will be auctioning off her first appointment via Facebook + Instagram and we look forward to seeing who wants that first haircut the most!
2. Purchase a T-shirt
   HABA Member Cabello Culture is selling custom-designed T-Shirts to raise funds for The Black Dog Institute. With all proceeds going to charity, grab your shirt today and wear your support on your sleeve. Shop here.
3. Share your Mullets
   Whether it’s your own glorious mullet, a stunning mullet cut you’ve created, we want to see all the mullets out for mental health. Tag #HABAMullets so we can share the best of the mullet on our socials!
4. Share your top mullet cutting + care tips online
   We want to start a conversation with you about YOUR mental health, so start the conversation with your top Mullet Cutting Technique tip or trick.
   Start a conversation with your clients about their mental health by opening with mullet care tips. Who knows where the conversation might lead.
5. Donate to The Black Dog Institute
